The new Volkswagen Taigun 2026 facelift has been unveiled in India ahead of its market launch. The updated SUV lineup comes with slightly improved styling and features, along with a new 8-speed automatic gearbox. The engine options; however, remain unchanged. In the midsize SUV segment, the updated Taigun continues to take on the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate and Renault Duster.
New Volkswagen Taigun 2026 – Design Changes
The 2026 Volkswagen Taigun facelift derives its design inspiration from the Tayron R-Line SUV. It features a newly-designed front grille with an illuminated VW logo, redesigned headlamps with a connected LED element and a revised bumper with larger horizontal slats.

Other design highlights include new dual-tone 17-inch alloy wheels, black cladding and pronounced wheel arches, a silver front diffuser, silver roof rails, chrome-garnished door handles, redesigned rear bumper and tweaked LED taillamps with sequential turn indicators.
The Taigun GT variant looks sportier with blacked-out treatment on the grille, alloy wheels and GT badging.
New Volkswagen Taigun 2026 – New Features
Inside the cabin, the 2026 Volkswagen Taigun offers a new panoramic sunroof, a larger 10.25-inch driver’s display, an updated 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with AI integration and improved graphics, wireless Android Auto and Apple connectivity, powered ventilated front seats, updated AC unit, wireless phone charging, ambient lighting and massaging rear seats. While the dashboard design remains unchanged, it gets new trims and colour options along with six dual-tone upholstery options.

On the safety front, the new Taigun offers 6 airbags, traction control, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, electronic differential lock, Isofix child seat mount, rain sensing wipers, hill hold assist, an auto-dimming IRVM and more.
New Volkswagen Taigun 2026 – Engine Options
The engine setup has been retained from the pre-facelift model. The 2026 Volkswagen Taigun facelift comes with a choice of a 1.0L, 3-cylinder TSI and a 1.5L, 4-cylinder TSI petrol engine options, delivering power worth 115bhp with 178Nm and 150bhp with 250Nm, respectively.
The 1.5L TSI motor continues with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, while the 1.0L TSI unit is now available with an 8-speed automatic transmission along with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Interestingly, this engine is also claimed to offer 5.8% better fuel efficiency than before.
