New Hyundai MPV & Off-Road SUV Confirmed For India

Must Read

Hyundai Motor India aims to expand its product portfolio with 26 new models, including 8 hybrid vehicles, by 2030. The carmaker also plans to enter two new segments – the family-oriented MPV and off-road SUV space. However, the company hasn’t yet revealed the names or specific details of these upcoming models. Let’s take a look at what we can expect.

New Hyundai MPV For India

Hyundai has confirmed that its upcoming MPV will challenge the dominance of Maruti Suzuki and Kia in the compact family-mover segment. Just so you know, the Hyundai Staria and Stargazer MPVs were showcased at the Bangkok International Motor Show 2024. While the Staria measures over 5.2 metres in length and shares its underpinning with the Kia Carnival, the Stargazer is 4.46 metres long and built on the Kia Carens’ platform.

The Hyundai Stargazer could be the one heading to India. In Thailand, this MPV is available with a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine and two gearbox options – a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic.

New Hyundai Off-Road SUV

Upcoming Hyundai off-road SUV

Hyundai is expected to introduce one of its monocoque AWD SUVs from its global portfolio in India. If that happens, the new Hyundai off-road SUV will be positioned against the Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder and the newly-launched Maruti Victoris.

Currently, popular off-road SUVs in India such as Mahindra Thar and Thar Roxx, Force Gurkha and Maurti Jimny are based on the ladder-frame chassis and offer true 4X4 capabilities.

8 Hyundai Hybrid Cars

The South Korean automaker has also confirmed the launch of 8 new hybrid vehicles for the Indian market. The new-generation Hyundai Creta is likely to be the brand’s first hybrid offering, expected to arrive in 2027. It will be followed by a new 7-seater hybrid SUV (codenamed Ni1i) in the same year and the Hyundai Palisade in 2028. Some of Hyundai’s existing models might also receive hybrid powertrain options in future as part of the company’s electrification strategy.
