The second-generation Kia Seltos has finally made its European debut through official pictures. The Europe-spec model appears almost idential to the Seltos currently on sale in India; however, it gets a strong hybrid powertrain. The 2026 Kia Seltos hybrid features a 1.6L GDI HEV powertrain paired with the FWD (front-wheel drive) system, producing a maximum power of 154bhp.
This setup has been designed for urban driving, ensuring “smooth, responsive acceleration and optimized fuel consumption.”
Powerful 178bhp, e-AWD Hybrid System Explained
Interestingly, the higher variant of the 2026 Kia Seltos hybrid is available with a more powerful and performance focused powertrain. It uses the same 1.6L GDI HEV powertrain, tuned to deliver a maximum power of 178bhp. Notably, it’s the first Kia model to feature Hyundai Motor Group’s e-AWD system, which enables “precise torque distribution, enhanced stability and dynamic performance.”
V2L Functionality
The Europe-spec Kia Seltos hybrid comes equipped with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, allowing users to charge external devices using the SUV’s hybrid battery. It also functions as a mobile power hub, while maintaining cabin comfort when parked, thanks to Stay Mode.
Market Launch Details
In Europe, the new-gen Seltos will enter production in the second quarter of 2026 (April – June), while its market launch will take place in the third quarter of the year. The Kia Seltos hybrid India launch is due for 2027.
Kia Seltos Hybrid For India
Unlike the Europe-spec version, the India-bound model is expected to come with an electrified version of Kia’s proven 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine. This powertrain is likely to deliver higher fuel efficiency, while reducing emission. The same powertrain is also expected to power the upcoming Kia Sorento three-row SUV, which is expected to launch in 2027.
Apart from the ‘Hybrid’ badge, the overall styling, interior layout and features of the Seltos hybrid are expected to remain largely similar to its ICE-counterpart.
