Aiming to level-up its SUV game, Maruti Suzuki is set to introduce a new product in the midsize SUV segment to challenge dominance of the Hyundai Creta. Unlike the Grand Vitara which is sold via Nexa dealerships, the new Maruti SUV (widely known as the Maruti Escudo) will be positioned as a flagship Arena offering, hinting at its aggressive pricing. The name, prices, specifications and feature details of the model will be officially announced on September 3, 2025.

3 Engines – Petrol, Hybrid & CNG
The Maruti Escudo will come with a choice of three engine options, borrowed from the Grand Vitara. The petrol version will feature a 1.5L K15C petrol engine, generating a maximum power of 103bhp. The 92bhp, 1.5L, 3-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine, paired with an electric motor (79bhp/141Nm) will also be on offer. This setup delivers a combined power of 115bhp, mated with an e-CVT automatic gearbox. On the Grand Vitra, this configuration offers a fuel efficiency of 27.97kmpl.
Interestingly, the Escudo will be the first Maruti car in India to feature an underbody CNG kit. This means buyers won’t have to compromise on the boot space when opting for the CNG version.

According to media reports, this new Maruti SUV will the brand’s first model to be equipped with the Level-2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) and Dolby Atmos Tech.
