Mahindra & Mahindra has finally unveiled its all-new NU_IQ modular platform, which will underpin the brand’s future products aimed at competing with global C-segment cars. The carmaker has confirmed that the first model based on the new Mahindra NU_IQplatform will arrive in 2027.
Class-Leading Seating & Ground Clearance
The NU_IQplatform is claimed to offer class-leading commanding seats and best-in-class ground clearance. SUVs built on this architecture will have a seating position of 1,563mm, a driver ‘H’ point of 350mm and ground clearance of up to 227mm. Furthermore, the new Mahindra NU.IQ platform promises to offer ample cabin space, featuring an 830mm couple distance, 937mm of second row legroom and 1,404mm of shoulder room.
Advanced Suspension & Ride Comfort
Mahindra has revealed that its all-new flexible NU_IQ platform comes with a 5 Link rear suspension system, boosted with DAVINCI damper technology. It’s claimed to be the world’s first such technology, ensuring improved ride comfort and body control. The architecture is described as “heavy on style, light on everything else,” referring to its lightweight body construction that enhances the vehicle’s drivability, handling and efficiency.
Generous Boot Space & Safety Testing
The Mahindra NU_IQ platform-based SUVs will have a luggage capacity of 644-litres (up to roof) and 450-liters (up to seat backrest). The platform has undergone multiple durability and capabilities tests including the twin_trident optimized load path for safety, a uni_ring unified hotformed door ring structure as well as water immersion test, fire test, vibration test and robust cell chemistry for battery safety.
Supports Multiple Powertrains & Configurations
The new NU_IQ platform supports multiple powertrains, FWD (front-wheel drive) and AWD (all-wheel drive) systems, and both LHD (Left-hand drive) and RHD (Right-hand drive) configurations. The upcoming Mahindra SUVs based on this new flexible platform will measure between 3,990mm – 4,320mm. It will also ensure the largest cabin space for 4.3metre long SUVs as well as sub-4-meter models.
