Volkswagen marked its entry into the midsize SUV segment in 2021 with the launch of the Taigun, developed under the India 2.0 project and based on the MQB A0-IN platform. The compact SUV has been admired for its practical yet compact design, premium brand appeal and strong safety quotient. Nearly four years after itse arrival, the Volkswagen Taigun is set to receive its first midlife update in early 2026.
New Volkswagen Taigun 2026 – Design Changes
While the leaked spy images managed to conceal its design details, the 2026 Volkswagen Taigun is expected to feature the revised front and rear bumpers along with slightly redesigned headlamps and taillamps. The sheet metal, however, is likely to remain unchanged.

Aiming to enhance its value proposition, Volkswagen is likely to equip the new Taigun with an ADAS (autonomous driver assistance system) suite and a 360-degree camera. The SUV might also receive new upholstery and trims along with new cabin theme. Other features will be carried over from the current model including

The 2026 Volkswagen Taigun facelift is expected to retain the existing 1.0L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo petrol engines, paired with manual and automatic gearboxes. Rumour has it that the current 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox, available only with the 1.0L petrol engine, could be replaced with a new 8-speed unit. The 1.0L TSI engine returns a claimed power of 115bhp and 178Nm of torque, while the larger capacity TSI motor delivers power worth 150bhp and 250Nm of torque.
