Hyundai Creta has been on sale in India over a decade, and has achieved a cumulative sales milestone of 1.2 million units so far. Since its arrival, the model has been dominating the segment since its arrival, and currently commands a market share of over 31 percent. Aiming to boost its sales, the carmaker introduced the Creta Electric earlier this year as its first mass-market electric SUV. While the Creta continues to lead its segment, multiple existing and upcoming models are set o challenge its dominance in the coming years.
Here’s the list of rivals including both electric and hybrid SUVs. Hyundai will introduce the next-generation Creta in 2027 with significant changes inside and out along with a hybrid powertrain. A facelifted version of the Creta Electric is also planned for 2027.

- The Maruti Escudo will be the Indo-Japanese automaker’s second midsize SUV, positioned against the Creta. Scheduled to launch on 3rd September 2025, it will come with three powertrain options (including hybrid) and several segment-first features.
- Skoda and Volkswagen are gearing up to launch the updated Kushaq and Taigun SUVs in early 2026. Both models are expected to receive minimal updates inside and out, while retaining their existing engine setups.
- The Tata Sierra is one of the top upcoming Hyundai Creta rival SUVs, arriving with ICE engines early next year. Its electric iteration will go on sale in October or November, 2025. With a modern design language, premium interior and features, and multiple powertrain choices, the Sierra is expected to be a strong rival to the Creta.
- The Kia Seltos, a sibling of the Creta, will receive its first generational upgrade in 2026 or 2027. The SUV is expected to come with significantly improved styling, a more premium interior and a hybrid powertrain.
- Mahindra & Mahindra recently unveiled the Vision S concept SUV, which previews a new SUV under the Scorpio family. As per reports, the production-ready version will take on the Hyundai Creta directly.
- Maruti Suzuki and Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) will roll out their first electric offerings – e Vitara and Urban Curiser EV – next year to challenge the Creta Electric. Both models will share the platform, powertrains, design elements and features.
- BYD Atto 2 is expected to go on sale in India by mid-2026. It will be the most affordable BYD in India, estimated to be priced around Rs 18 lakh for the base variant.
- Honda Cars India will introduce the Elevate hybrid around 2026 festive season, as a direct rival to the Creta Electric.
