New Delhi: Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has fully digitised the process of obtaining property tax dues and deposit certificates, aiming to simplify property transactions such as buying and selling. Property owners can now log on to the MCD portal using their registered mobile numbers to view detailed information, including partial records of any outstanding dues or deposits linked to their properties. This online system is designed to eliminate middlemen and reduce discretionary practices by officials. “A certificate detailing the property tax payments is often required during property deals,” said a senior MCD official. “Previously, applicants had to visit zonal offices, and the process typically took 8 to 10 days as records were manually verified. With the new system in place, certificates can be downloaded instantly from the MCD website.” The civic body noted that the service is currently available free of charge on a trial basis. A nominal fee may be introduced later once the system is fully implemented to prevent misuse.
