The second-generation Volkswagen T-Roc SUV has been teased ahead of its official debut at the Munich Motor Show, scheduled to take place from 9th to 14th September 2025, in Germany. In global markets, this 5-door, 5-seater SUV will go on sale in the second half of 2026, and will continue to take on the cars like Toyota Corolla Cross, Nissan Qashqai, Hyundai Kona and Toyota C-HR. The key highlight of the 2026 Volkswagen T-Roc is that it will be the brand’s first model to feature a strong hybrid powertrain.

Volkswagen Hybrid SUV – What to Expect?
The hybrid powertrain details are yet to be revealed. However, it’s expected to operate in a manner similar to Toyota’s Atkinson cycle petrol-hybrid system. This means Volkswagen’s hybrid powertrain will combine a petrol engine with an electric motor to drive the wheels. Speculations suggest that the new Volkswagen hybrid SUV could use a 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine paired with an electric motor producing power between 201bhp – 268bhp and torque around 350Nm – 400Nm.
Globally Available Engine Options
In select global markets, the current-generation Volkswagen T-Roc is available with a 1.4L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol and 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine options. While the former generates a maximum power of 147bhp and 250Nm of torque, the latter delivers power worth 188bhp and 320Nm of torque. The flagship R variant comes with a 296bhp, 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine.
2026 Volkswagen T-Roc Design & Feature Upgrades
The all-new T-Roc is likely to receive comprehensive design changes and feature upgrades along with a new hybrid powertrain. As per the leaked images, the SUV will feature a large hexagon-shaped grille placed below the headlamps with blacked-out central part and body-colour elements on either corner.
The headlamps will be slimmer than before, and connected by a slim LED light bar with the signature logo in the centre. The front and rear overhangs will appear longer, while the crease on the front fender will be more pronounced. Other design highlights will include new taillamps connected via a light bar, and a slightly revised rear bumper.
