Renault and Nissan have announced plans to introduce four major SUV launches in the Indian market including two five-seater SUVs (one from each brand) and their three-row versions. The third-generation Renault Duster and Nissan’s version of the Duster are slated to hit showrooms in the first half of 2026. Both SUVs will receive hybrid powertrain options nearly 6 to 12 months after the launch of their ICE-powered model.
The Renault Boreal, essentially a 7-seater version of the Duster, is expected to arrive in 2027. Nissan will also introduce a rebadged Boreal with a completely different design language in the second half of 2027.
All-New Renault Duster
The India-spec Renault Duster will look slightly different from the globally available model. The SUV is likely to feature a newly-designed signature grille with Renault’s new logo in the centre, Y-shaped elements in headlamps and taillamps, updated bumpers, prominent body cladding, squared wheel arches and new alloy wheels.
While official details are yet to be revealed, the 2026 Renault Duster is expected to offer a more premium and feature-rich interior. The SUV might come equipped with a larger touchscreen infotainment, a 7-inch driver’s display, wireless phone charger, USB charging points, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Arkamys audio system, ADAS (autonomous driver assistance system) and more.

New Nissan Midsize SUV
Nissan’s new midsize SUV will be based on the Duster, and will share its platform, powertrains and features with its sibling. However, it will adopt Nissan’s new design language with some elements borrowed from the Magnite. It remains unclear whether Nissan will revive the Terrano nameplate or introduce an all-new name for the SUV.
Renault & Nissan 7-Seater SUVs
The Renault Boreal and Nissan’s three-row SUVs will derive several design cues from their 5-seater counterparts. However, they will be longer and more spacious, and might offer additional features. The powertrains are expected to be carried over from the 5-seater Duster, while the hybrid variants are likely to feature a more powerful battery pack and electric motor.
