Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to expand its born-electric SUV range with the new XEV 7e SUV in the coming months. This electric SUV is slated to debut in late 2025, followed by its market launch early next year. The Mahindra XEV 7e is essentially a 7-seater version of the XEV 9e coupe SUV, which will be designed to appeal family EV buyers. Recently, a heavily camouflaged test mule of the SUV was caught on camera at a charging station.
What did the spy image reveal?
The spotted prototype reveals several design elements such as multi-spoke alloy wheels, flash-type door handles, ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, slightly pronounced wheel arches, a panoramic sunroof and a small rear spoiler. The overall design language is expected to similar to the XEV 9e; however, the XEV 7e will be longer and more spacious than its younger sibling.
Sharing Powertrains With XEV 9e
The upcoming Mahindra XEV 7e is most likely to borrow the 59kWh and 79kWh LFP battery packs from the XEV 9e. The smaller battery pack comes with a 286bhp motor and promises a driving range of 542km, while the larger battery paired with a 231bhp motor delivers a range of 656km. The XEV 7e’s range figures are expected to be largely similar to those of the XEV 9e.
Interior & Features
Interior is still a mystery to us. However, the Mahindra XEV 7e is likely to have a cabin layout similar to the XEV 9e, with the additional of the third row of seats.
In terms of features, this new Mahindra EV might offer a triple screen setup, captain’s chairs for the second-row, two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo, dual zone climate control system, auto dimming IRVM, augmented reality HUD, front ventilated seats, auto lane charge and lane keep assist, wireless smartphone charger for each row of seat, 360-degree cameras with live recording, adaptive cruise control, Level-2 ADAS (autonomous driving assistance system), front and rear cross traffic alert and more.
