Hyundai Motor India is losing market shares to Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors. These three carmakers frequently swap the second spot on monthly sales tally, while Maruti Suzuki continues to retain the top position. Aiming to strengthen its market, the South Korean automaker announced an aggressive product launch plan that includes 26 models arriving over the next five financial years. The upcoming range will consist of 20 ICE (petrol/diesel) cars, 6 EVs, new-gen models, facelifts and special editions.
Furthermore, Hyundai plans to enter the hybrid vehicle segment in 2027, starting with the next-gen Creta, followed by a 7-seater SUV in the same year and the Palisade in 2028. The all-new Creta hybrid will go up against the upcoming hybrid versions of the next-gen Kia Seltos and Renault Duster, while the 7-seater Hyundai hybrid SUV (codenamed Ni1i) will rival the Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari.
Next-Gen Hyundai Creta
India’s top-selling SUV – the Hyundai Creta is set to enter in its third-generation in 2027. With the generational upgrade, the SUV will receive a hybrid powertrain along with comprehensive design changes and new features. As per reports, the carmaker might hybridize its tried-and-tested 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine.
Hyundai 7-Seater SUV
Hyundai is planning to introduce a new premium three-row SUV, sitting above the Alcazar and below Tucson in the company’s portfolio. Similar to the Creta, the hybrid powertrain could be based on the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine. The SUV is likely to be based on the Tucson LWB (long-wheelbase), which is sold in the Chinese market. The new Hyundai 7-seater SUV is expected to measure around 4.6 metre in length and promise a spacious cabin.
Hyundai Palisade
The Hyundai Palisade hybrid SUV will make its way to India in 2028 as the brand’s flagship model. Priced at an estimated Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom), it will feature Hyundai’s next-gen hybrid powertrain that’s claimed to offer improved gear shifts and efficiency, while reducing power consumption. The powertrain setup will feature a 2.5L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine paired with an electric motor, delivering a combined power of 334bhp and 460Nm of torque.
