The all-new Tata Sierra has created massive hype among buyers ahead of its market launch in October, 2025. Initially, the SUV will be introduced with an electric powertrain, sourced from the Harrier EV. Its ICE-powered version will arrive in early 2026, taking on strong rivals such as Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

Over the past few months, numerous stories have surfaced around its spy test mules, design, features and powertrains details. In this piece, we will highlight the top 10 features of the Sierra SUV and compare them with its arch rival – the Hyundai Creta – to find out whether the Sierra will turely be more tech-loaded than Creta.

It’s important to note that most of the information highlighted here is based on media reports and the prototype showcased earlier. The final production model may feature changes when it officially launches.

1. Triple-Screen Setup

The top highlight of the Tata Sierra will be its floating three-screen setup, comprising a central touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster and a passenger side screen. Each of these is expected to measure around 12.3-inch. The Hyundai Creta features a dual 10.25-inch screens.

2. Premium Cabin Features

Tata is likely to equip the new Sierra with features such as ventilated and powered front seats, a panoramic sunroof, multi-colour ambient lighting, wireless phone charger, powered tailgate, a premium sound system, built-in dashcam, HUD (head-up display), and more. The Creta, however, misses out on the powered tailgate.

3. Safety Package

The new Tata midsize SUV is likely to have a strong safety suite with features such as 6 airbags, a 36—degree camera, electronic stability program, hill hold/descent control, Level-2 ADAS and more. Similar to other Tata cars, the Sierra is expected to achieve a 5-star safety rating in NCAP crash tests.

4. Dual Cabin Layouts

Tata Sierra Lounge Cabin

As showcased in the concept, the production-ready Tata Sierra could be offered with both a 5-seater bench and a 4-seater lounge-like style cabin. The lounge version will feature wider two rear seats with ample legroom and ottoman function. It will also offer rear seat entertainment screens, foldable tray tables and arm rests, phone chargers and multiple connectivity options. These features are absent in the Creta.

5. QWD/AWD Drivetrain

Based on Tata’s Gen-2 EV platform (Acti.ev), the Sierra EV is likely to share its powertrains with the Harrier EV. It might also offer a QWD or AWD drivetrain option, something not available in the Creta.

6. Long Driving Range

The Harrier EV’s 65kWh and 75kWh battery versions deliver a claimed MIDC range of 538km, and 627km (RWD)/622km (AWD), respectively. If these batteries are carried over the Sierra, it’s expected to deliver a range between 500km-600km. In comparison, the Hyundai Creta Electric comes with 42kWh and 51.4kWh battery pack options, promising an ARAI-claimed range of 390km and 473km, respectively.

7. Off-road Credentials

With an AWD setup, the Sierra is possibly to have off-road capabilities, which lacks in the Creta.

8. Powerful ICE Engines

According to reports, the ICE-powered Tata Sierra will come with a 1.5L turbo petrol (170PS/280Nm) and a 2.0L diesel (170PS/350Nm) engine. Both will outperform Creta’s engines. The Sierra might initially be offered with an all-new 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine, followed later by the turbo-petrol motor.

9. Modern Yet Nostalgic Design

The Tata Sierra will feature a modern design language, while retaining nostalgic elements such as distinctive rear glass, bold B-pillars, large alpine windows and boxy silhouette. The Hyundai Creta, on the other hand, looks sportier with a more dynamic and sculpted design elements.

While the official dimension of the new Sierra are yet to be revealed, it is expected measure 4,300mm in length, 1,800mm in width and 1,600mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,650mm. If these figures remain true, it will be slightly wider and have a longer wheelbase than the Creta. The Creta sits on a 2,610mm longer wheelbase.
