Tata Motors recorded its highest-ever monthly sales of 59,667 units in September 2025 compared to 41,063 units in September 2024. The Nexon subcompact SUV emerged as the top sales contributor with sales over 22,500 units, which is the highest-ever sales for any Tata Motors passenger vehicle. The Punch continued to appeal masses with its modern design and feature-packed cabin, the Harrier and Safari maintained their sales momentum, further boosted by the newly-launched Adventure X edition.
Earlier this year, Tata Motors updated the Nexon lineup with new colours and additional features. The subcompact SUV is currently available with three engine options – 120bhp, 1.2L turbo petrol, 115bhp, 1.5L turbo diesel and 100bhp, 1.2L turbo petrol+ CNG.
New-Gen Tata Nexon Launch Timeline
First launched in 2017, the Tata Nexon received two major facelifts in 2020 and 2023. While the current generation model has served eight successful years, it’s set to receive a generational upgrade in 2027. The all-new Nexon is expected to witness major structural updates in the existing X1 platform along with the significant cosmetic enhancements and upgraded features.
The 2027 Tata Nexon is likely to retain the existing petrol and CNG engine options. However, it remains to see whether the diesel engine will carry over to the next generation or not. The existing 1.5L diesel engine complies with BS6 Phase II emission norms without using the costly SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system, but upgrading it to meet the upcoming BS7 emission standards would be expensive.
Rival & Pricing
In the subcompact SUV segment, the all-new Nexon will continue to take on the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Skoda Kylaq and Mahindra XUV 3XO. Following the GST Reforms, the subcompact SUV becomes more affordable by up to Rs 1.55 lakh, with prices now ranging from Rs 7.31 lakh to Rs 14.05 lakh (all, ex-showroom).
