Tata Motors achieved total sales of 73,178 units in August 2025 compared to 71,693 units in the corresponding month last year. The carmaker’s domestic sales, however, continued to decline, standing at 68,482 units as opposed to 70,006 units in August 2024.
In the passenger vehicle segment, Tata retailed 43,315 units, recording a year-on-year (YoY) decline of 3 percent. Domestic PV sales dropped 7 percent to 41,001 units. On the positive side, the carmaker registered significant growth in exports with 2,314 units shipped.
A total of 8,540 Tata electric vehicles (EVs) were sold across domestic and global markets, marking a nearly 44 percent higher in August 2024. In commercial vehicle (CV) segment, Tata Motors clocked 10 percent YoY growth with sales of 29,863 units. CV exports also grew by 77 percent with sales of 2,382 units.

In the coming months, Tata Motors will introduce several major upgrades to its existing models along with the much-awaited Sierra nameplate. The Tata Punch and Punch EV facelifts are set to launch in October 2025 with subtle design changes and feature upgrades. These updated models are expected to be followed by the debut of the all-new Tata Sierra in November.
The Sierra will initially be offered with an electric powertrain, followed by its ICE-powered version in early 2026. The electric version is likely to be share its powertrain with the Harrier EV, while the ICE model will come with a new 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol and a 2.0L diesel engine. A 1.5L turbo petrol engine will be introduced at a later stage.
According to media reports, the Tata Nexon EV will soon be launched with Level-2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance system). The upgraded suite will offer features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, forward collision warning, high beam assist and autonomous emergency braking. However, the upgraded ADAS suite will be reserved for the top-end Empowered+ 45 trim.
