Tata Motors became the second largest car manufacturer in September 2025, surpassing Mahindra & Mahindra and Hyundai Motors India. The homegrown automaker retailed 59,667 passenger vehicles (including EVs) against 41,063 units in September 2024, recording a 45% YoY growth. In comparison, its arch rivals – Mahindra and Hyundai – managed to sell 56,233 units and 51,547 units respectively.

As per VAHAN portal data, Tata’s PV registrations stood at 39,709 units (including 33,960 units of ICE-powered vehicles and 5,749 units of EVs), while Mahindra and Hyundai recorded 33,960 units and 33,081 units, respectively. Maruti Suzuki retained the top spot with total PV registrations of 1,22,278 units.
GST Price Cut & Festive Discounts
On the first day of Navratri, Tata Motors delivered over 10,000 units to customers. Following the GST Reforms, the prices of ICE-powered Tata cars were reduced by up to Rs 1.55 lakh. The price cuts for individual modes are as follows: Tiago, Altroz, Punch, Nexon, Curvv, Harrier and Safari have been reduced by up to Rs 75,000, Rs 1.11 lakh, Rs 81,000, Rs 1.08 lakh, Rs 1.55 lakh, Rs 67,000, Rs 1.44 lakh and Rs 1.48 lakh, respectively.
Furthermore, the company is offering additional festival discounts of up to Rs 65,000 in September 2025. This means, Tata cars are more affordable for buyers during this festive season.
