Tata & Maruti Soon Launch New Hyundai Creta Rival SUVs

Must Read

The Hyundai Creta has been dominating the segment ever since its arrival in 2025. Attributes such as modern styling, a premium interior and features, multiple engine options and drivability have always worked in its favour.

In the midsize SUV segment, Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors already offer models like Grand Vitara and Curvv, respectively, challenging the Creta. However, the Creta remains the top-selling model in its category. To give it tougher competition, both automakers are ready to introduce new models – the Maruti Escudo (as it’s known so far) and the new-gen Tata Sierra.

Let’s take a look at the key details of these upcoming Hyundai Creta rivals.

Maruti Escudo

New-Maruti-SUV e Vitara Escudo

Maruti Suzuki has confirmed a new product launch for September 3, 2025. The official name and details of the upcoming model will be revealed in the coming weeks, although it’s widely referred as the Maruti Escudo. It will be a midsize SUV based on the Grand Vitara, sharing its platform, engines, design and features with its elder sibling.

According to a media report, the new Maruti SUV will be the brand’s first model to offer Level-2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) and Dolby Atmos tech. Similar to the Grand Vitara, the new Maruti Escudo will be offered with multiple engine options including petrol, hybrid and CNG. However, its CNG version is likely to feature an underbody CNG tank instead of occupying boot space.

Tata Sierra

The all-new Tata Sierra is expected to go on sale in October, 2025. Tata will adopt multiple powertrain strategy with the all-new Sierra to target a wider audience. If reports are to be believed, the SUV model lineup will be made available with two petrol engines – a 1.5L naturally aspirated and a 1.5L turbocharged, one diesel and an electric powertrain. The electric Sierra is expected to borrow the powertrains from the Harrier EV.

Similar to the new-age Tata SUVs, the Tata Sierra will be packed with several advanced goodies including a 540-degree surround camera view, V2L and V2L functionalities, wireless phone charger, built-in dashcam, OTA updates, ventilated and powered front seats, premium sound system, a panoramic sunroof, HUD, Level-2 ADAS and more.
