The iconic Renault Duster nameplate is all set to make a comeback in India with a completely new design language, modern tech and capable powertrains. The midsize SUV is slated to go on sale in the first half of 2026, where it will challenge the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Victoris and Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder and other SUVs in the segment. The 2026 Renault Duster will be offered with multiple engine options; however, the official details are yet to be revealed.
Expected Engine Options
Globally, the new Renault Duster is available with the 130bhp, 1.3L petrol EDC and 140bhp, 1.2L 48V mild hybrid petrol engine options. The strong hybrid variant features a 1.6L petrol engine paired with a 1.2kWh battery pack and two electric motors. The French automaker is likely to offer all these powertrains with the Indias-spec Duster. The SUV will come with both manual and DCT automatic gearbox choices, while the 4X4 drivetrain system is expected to be reserved for the higher variants.
New Renault Duster Hybrid & Duster 7-Seater
Initially, the all-new Duster will be introduced with the petrol engine only. The hybrid variant will join the lineup at a later stage, possibly around 6 to 12 months after the initial launch. Renault India also plans to introduce a 7-seater version of the Duster (Renault Boreal) in 2027. This three-row SUV will share its powertrains, design cues, features and several components with the 5-seater Duster. It will be positioned against the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV700.
Platform & Features
The 2026 Renault Duster will be based on the CMF-B modular platform, jointly developed by Reanult and Nissan. This platform along with the engine options will be used for the upcoming Nissan Tekton SUV that recently made its global debut through official images.
The next-gen Duster is expected to offer features such as a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless phone charger, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, Level-2 ADAS and more.
