Hyundai Creta has been an undisrupted player in the midsize SUV segment since its launch in 2015. Several models have tried to challenge its dominance; however, none have reached the heights it has ever achieved. In an attempt to give a strong competition to the Creta, Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors are all set to play their big cards – the Maruti Victrois and the Tata Sierra. While the Victrois is likely to arrive just before this Diwali, the Sierra (with electric powertrain) will go on sale in October or November, 2025.
Maruti Victoris

Maruti Suzuki’s all-new Victoris SUV will be available in six trim levels – LXI, VXI, ZXI, ZXI (O), ZXI+ and ZXI+ (O) – and will be sold through Arean dealership. With its feature-packed interior, highly fuel-efficient engines and competitive pricing, the new Maruti SUV is likely to serve as an attractive alternative for buyers considering the Hyundai Creta. Bookings for the Maruti Victrois are already open at a token amount of Rs 11,000.
The Victoris is the first Maruti Suzuki car to feature Level 2 ADAS, Dolby Atmos audio system and an underbody CNG tank. The SUV will be offered with three engine options – a 103bhp, 1.5L mild hybrid petrol, a 116bhp, 1.5L strong hybrid and an 89bhp, 1.5L petrol CNG. Its hybrid version is claimed to deliver a fuel efficiency of 28.65kmpl, making it the most fuel-efficient car in India.
Tata Sierra EV

The Tata Sierra is ready to make a comeback in India within the next 2-3 months. The SUV features Tata’s new design language and have a tech-loaded interior and multiple powertrain options. Initially, the Sierra will be offered with all-electric powertrain, followed by its ICE counterpart in early 2026. The electric version might source its powertrain from the Harrier EV, which is available with two battery pack options and QWD system.
The ICE-powered Tata Sierra will feature the brand’s all-new 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol and 2.0L diesel engines. A turbocharged 1.5L petrol engine will be introduced at a later stage. The SUV is likely to offer features such as a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, ventilated and powered front seats, built-in dashcam, Level-2 ADAS and more.
