New Renault Duster Coming Sooner Than Expected

Must Read

The third-generation Renault Duster is set to return as the biggest rival to the Hyundai Creta. The SUV will enter production by September 2025, and its market launch will happen in the first half of 2026, possibly in the first quarter. The new Renault Duster hybrid launch is also on the cards; however, it will arrive within 12 months of the petrol variant’s launch.

Globally called as the Renault Boreal, the 7-seater version of the Duster is expected to hit roads in late 2026 or 2027. It’s important to note that information mentioned above is based on the media reports, Renault India hasn’t officially confirmed launch timelines for the Duster Hybrid and 7-Seater Duster SUVs. Additionally, Nissan will also introduce derivatives of both the new Duster and 7-seater Duster, featuring their own unique characteristics.

Petrol Engines

One of the major highlights of the new Renault Duster will be its multiple powertrains, which are likely to include a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol (for the lower variants), a 1.0L turbo or 1.3L turbo petrol (for mid and higher trims) and a strong hybrid (exclusive to the higher variants).

Strong Hybrid

In global markets, the new Duster (sold as the Dacia Duster) is offered with a 94bhp, 1.6L, 4-cylinder petrol engine, paired with two electric motors and a 1.2kWh battery pack. This configuration delivers a combined power of 140bhp.

CNG & EV Options

Renault is also considering the CNG fuel option for the new Duster. According to media reports, the CNG could be offered as a retrofit solution via non-factory partnerships such as Minda Westport. The new Renault Duster electric is also under evaluation.

With multiple powertrain options, the all-new Duster will prove to be a strong rival to the Hyundai Creta. Just so you know, the Hyundai Creta will also go hybrid in 2027 with a full generation change, while its electric version is already on sale in India.
