Must Read

Mahindra & Mahindra with a strong focus on SUVs continues to achieve impressive results, reporting its highest-ever quarterly SUV sales. In Q1 FY2026, the homegrown automaker recorded total sales of 152,100 units, marking a 22 percent YoY growth. Aiming to further boost its sales performance, Mahindra has planned multiple new product launches across multiple segments.

Recently, the company has confirmed the launch of two new electric SUVs for Q1, 2026. During the same period, Mahindra will introduce the new lower battery pack variants of the XEV 9e and BE6 SUVs, updated variants of the existing models and multiple facelifts including the XUV700 and Thar 3-door. While the launch of the new Mahindra XUV700 and updated Thar is a few months way, here’s a look at the key details known so far.

New Mahindra XUV700 Facelift

The updated XUV700 will receive noticeable changes inside and out, inspired by Mahindra’s new born-electric SUVs. Most of the design updates are expected to be made at the front end. The SUV might come with a newly-designed grille with more slanted vertical slats, new circular headlamps and slightly revised lower section of the bumper.

The cabin might witness the addition of an upgraded Harman audio system with Dolby support, rear seats with ottoman function, a digital key, self-parking assist and an auto dimming IRVM.

No mechanical changes are expected. The 2026 Mahindra XUV700 will be offered with the existing 197bhp, 2.0L turbo petrol and 182bhp, 2.2L turbo diesel engine options.

The 2026 Mahindra Thar facelift will come with significantly improved design and interior. Spy images suggest that the SUV will feature a new front grille, redesigned headlamps, revised bumpers, new alloy wheels and tweaked taillamps. Its front fascia will share a strong resemblance with the Thar Roxx.

Interior changes will also take cues from the Thar Roxx. The SUV is likely to offer a new dashboard, updated digital instrument cluster and a larger touchscreen infotainment system with the latest UI. Features such as wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, ambient lighting, rear disc brakes, 6 airbags as standard and Level-2 ADAS suite might also be on offer.

Under the hood, the 2026 Mahindra Thar will retain the existing options – a 152bhp, 2.0L turbo petrol, 119bhp, a 1.5L turbo diesel and a 2.2L turbo diesel. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will also be carried foward.
