The highly competitive midsize SUV segment will soon witness a wave of new models coming from mainstream automakers including Tata, Kia and Renault. Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the next-gen Sierra with a modern design language, a premium interior and multiple powertrains. Kia’s top-selling Seltos SUV is set for a generational upgrade, possibly in early 2026. Meanwhile, Renault will reintroduce the Duster nameplate in an all-new avatar early next year.
All these upcoming midsize SUVs are currently undergoing rigorous testing and have recently been caught on camera wearing camouflage. Here’s what to expect from the all-new Tata Sierra, Kia Seltos and Renault Duster.
New Tata Sierra

Tata is betting big on the new-gen Sierra SUV. Production is scheduled to begin early next year, followed by its market launch. The SUV will feature a broad front fascia with an upright bonnet, a slat-patterned grille and a squared rear profile with a flat tailgate. The all-new Tata Sierra will be packed with several premium features including Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, connected car features and more.
The Sierra will be offered with three engine options – electric, petrol and diesel. The electric version might share powertrain with the Harrier EV, while the petrol model is likely to feature an all-new 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine. The diesel model could come with a 2.0L engine.
Next-Gen Kia Seltos

The second-generation Kia Seltos is expected to debut in the coming months, with market launch to follow soon after. A hybrid version is also in the pipeline, slated to arrive in 2027. Kia is likely to hybridize its 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine for the Seltos. The hybrid powertrain will be reserved for higher trims, and put up against the upcoming hybrid versions of the Renault Duster, new-gen Hyundai Creta and Honda Elevate.
The existing petrol and diesel engines will also be carried over to the new-gen model. With the generational change, the SUV is likely to receive comprehensive changes both inside and out.
New Renault Duster

The third-generation Renault Duster is scheduled to launch in India early next year. The SUV will derive its design inspiration from the Dacia Bigster, and the India-spec model will feature slightly revised styling than the currently available global model. Inside, the new Renault Duster is expected to feature a large touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 7-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, TPMS, 6 airbags, ADAS and more.
Initially, the new Duster will be offered with petrol engines only. Renault might use a 1.5L NA petrol for the lower trims and 1.3L turbo petrol for the mid and higher variants. The Renault Duster hybrid is expected to arrive nearly 6 months later.
