Maruti Victoris SUV Scores 5-Star Bharat NCAP Rating

The recently unveiled Maruti Victoris SUV has achieved a full 5-start safety rating at the Bharat NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) crash tests. The midsize SUV scored 31.66 points out of 32 in adult occupant protection and 43 points out of 49 in child occupant protection. The top-end ZX+ and ZX+ (O) trims, powered by the strong hybrid and petrol-automatic powertrains, were subjected to the crash tests.

This new Maruti SUV comes equipped with 6 airbags, electronic stability control, Isofix anchors for rear seats and three-point seatbelts with reminders for all passengers as standard. It also meets the AIS-100 pedestrian protection standards. The Victoris is the first Maruti Suzuki car to feature a Level-2 ADAS suite, reserved for the higher trims.

The new Victoris SUV was subjected to all three tests – the front offset deformable barrier test, the side movable deformable barrier test and the side pole impact test. In the front offset deformable barrier test, the model secured 15.66 points out of a maximum 16.

The results showed good protection for the driver’s head, neck and pelvis areas, while the driver’s chest and knee protection were rated as adequate. For the front passenger, protection for all body parts was rated as good. In the side deformable barrier test, the SUV scored a perfect 16 out of 16 points. The side pole impact test result was rated as ‘Ok’.

Maruti Victoris Child Occupant Safety Rating

As mentioned above, the Victoris achieved 43 points out of 49 in the child occupant protection. It performed exceptionally well in the dynamic test and the CRS installation test by scoring 24 out 24 and 12 out of 12 points, respectively. However, in the vehicle assessment test, it scored 7 out of 13 points. This new Maruti SUV offers Isofix anchorages and a support leg for both the 18-month-old and the 3-year-old child dummies, positioned rearward. Though, it lacks an integrated child restraint system.
