The latest model to be crash tested by Global NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) is the upcoming Maruti Victoris. The midsize SUV has emerged as winner by securing a full 5-star safety rating in both adult and child occupant protection. The model was voluntarily tested in accordance with GNCAP’s new protocols.

As standard, the Victoris offers six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC) and pedestrian protection, while ADAS (autonomous driving assistance system) suite is available as an option.
Maruti Victoris Adult Occupant Protection

The Maruti Victoris scored 33.72 points out of 34 in adult occupant protection. The report noted that the protection offered to the driver’s and passenger’s head and neck region was good. The driver’s chest showed adequate protection, while the passenger’s chest showed good protection. The SUV offered good protection to the driver’s and passenger’s knees as well as the driver’s left tibia and passenger’s tibias. The SUV provided adequate protection to the driver’s right tibia. The bodyshell and footwell area were rated as stable, and capable of withstanding further loadings.
In the side impact, the Victrois offered adequate protection to chest and good protection to the head, abdomen and pelvis. In the side pole impact, the head, chest, abdomen and pelvis protection was also rated good. SBRs (seat belt reminders) met Global NCAP’s requirements for all seating positions. The SUV’s pedestrian protection also complied with UN127 regulations.
Maruti Victoris Child Occupant Protection

In the child occupant protection, the Maruti Victoris scored 41 out of 49 points. It achieved full marks in the dynamic test (24 out of 24 points) and the CRS installation test (12 out of 12 points). However, it managed only 5 points out of 13 in the vehicle assessment.
In the frontal impact, both the 18-month-old and the 3-year-old child dummies were fully protected. The dummies were placed rearward-facing child seat position in the front passenger seat secured using Isofix anchorages and a support leg.
