Maruti Suzuki Sales Dip in August 2025 – e Vitara Exports Begin

India’s largest PV (passenger vehicle) maker, Maruti Suzuki recorded total sales of 1,80,683 units in August 2025 compared to 1,81,782 units during the same month last year. This marked a marginal year-on-year (YoY) decline of 0.54 percent. However, sales registered a slight increase compared to 1,80,526 units sold in July 2025. A total of 36,538 units were shipped overseas, while 10,095 units were supplied to Toyota under the partnership agreement.

Segment-Wise Sales Performance:

  • The mini car segment continued to witness a sharp decline with 6,853 units sold against 10,648 units in the same month previous year.
  • Interestingly, the compact vehicle segment which includes Baleno, Celerio, Ignis, Dzire, Swift and WagonR recorded a healthy growth with sales of 59,597 units.
  • On the other hand, SUVs sales declined with a big margin. Maruti Suzuki managed to sell 54,043 units of utility vehicles (UVs) against 62,684 units in August 2024.
  • The Eeco van contribution of 10,785 units to the total tally, while in the light commercial vehicles (LCV) segment, Maruti sold 2,772 units of the Super Carry.

Maruti e Vitara Exports Begin:

Announcing its monthly sales report, Maruti Suzuki has also revealed that exports of the brand’s first BEV (battery electric vehicle) – the e Vitara – has been commenced in August 2025. The automaker shipped over 2,900 units of the Maruti e Vitara from Pipavav Port in Gujarat to 12 European countries including Germany, United Kingdom, France, Norway, Switzerland, Denmark, Hungary, Sweden, Austria, Iceland, Netherlands and Belgium.

On August 26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Maruti e Vitara at the carmaker’s Hansalpur manufacturing plant in Gujarat. The PM hailed Maruti Suzuki as a brand ambassador of the ‘Make in India’ initiative. The carmaker has revealed that the e Vitara will be exclusively manufactured at the Gujarat plant and exported to over 100 countries worldwide.

India Launch Timeline:

The Maruti e Vitara is scheduled to launch in India in the first quarter of 2026. The electric SUV will be offered with two battery pack options, and deliver a range of over 500km on a single charge. Meanwhile, the carmaker is all set to launch a new midsize SUV on September 3 2025, which will be sold exclusively via Arena dealerships.
