An all-new Maruti Suzuki midsize SUV is all set to go on sale in India with its official price announcement scheduled for September 3, 2025. The model is internally codenamed Y17, and widely known as the ‘Maruti Escudo’. However, the SUV will debut with a new nameplate at launch. This new Maruti SUV will be sold through the brand’s Arena dealership network, to compete with the Hyundai Creta and other midsize SUVs.

Product Positioning:
The new Maruti Escudo will sit between the Brezza and Grand Vitara in the company’s product lineup. Since the price gap between these two models is narrow, the Escudo’s prices are expected to overlap with both. At present, the Maruti Brezza and Grand Vitara are available within price range of Rs 8.69 lakh – Rs 14.14 lakh, and Rs 11.42 lakh – Rs 20.68 lakh, respectively.
Price Prediction:
With its new midsize SUV, Maruti Suzuki aims to attract budget-conscious buyers, while offering strong value in terms of design, features and competitive pricing. The entry-level variant of the Escudo is expected to cost around Rs 9 lakh or Rs 10 lakh, while the top-spec strong hybrid variant is estimated to be priced nearly Rs 18 lakh or Rs 19 lakh. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom.
Petrol, Hybrid & CNG:
The Maruti Escudo is likely to come with three engine options, borrowed from the Grand Vitara – a 1.5L K15C petrol, a 1.5L Atkinson cycle strong hybrid and a CNG version. The hybrid configuration will be exclusively offered with the higher trims.
Segment-First Features:
Media reports suggest that the Escudo will be the first Maruti Suzuki car to feature an underbody CNG kit, freeing up boot space. It will also become the first Maruti to offer Level-2 ADAS (autonomous driving assistance system) and Dolby Atmos technology along with a powered tailgate and 4WD (four-wheel drive) system. Other features are expected to be similar to the Grand Vitara.
