Mahindra’s popular XUV700 and Thar (3-door) SUVs are ready to receive major midlife updates in early 2026. Both SUVs will receive significant changes inside and out, while retaining their existing engine options. Here’s a brief overview of the upcoming Mahindra XUV700 and Thar facelifts.
2026 Mahindra XUV700
While the official details of the updated Mahindra XUV700 will be revealed closer to its launch, spy images and video have already provided a handful details of its styling changes and feature upgrades. The SUV will draw design cues from the INGLO-based XEV 9e born electric SUV including the new front grille with more slanted vertical slats, new signature LED DRLs, new twin-pod LED headlamps, and a revised lower section.
The major highlight of the 2025 Mahindra XUV700 facelift will be a triple screen setup similar to the XEV 9e. It might also receive a newly-designed dashboard, a premium audio system and, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
The updated XUV700 will continue to be powered by the 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.0L diesel engines, producing a maximum power of 200PS with 380Nm and 155PS with 360Nm, respectively.
2026 Mahindra Thar
The launch of the Mahindra Thar facelift has been delayed for unknown reasons. Earlier slated to arrive in late September 2025, it is now expected to hit showrooms near around Diwali and a few months thereafter. The SUV will borrow several design elements and features from its 5-door sibling – the Thar Roxx.
The 2026 Mahindra Thar facelift is likely to offer an updated digital instrument cluster, a larger touchscreen infotainment system running on the latest UI and a new electric steering wheel. Features such as ambient lighting, wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, rear disc brakes and Level 2 ADAS suite might also be sourced from the Thar Roxx.
For power, the updated Thar will continue to use the 152bhp, 2.0L turbo petrol, 119bhp, 1.5L diesel ad 130bhp, 2.2L diesel engines. The SUV will come with both RWD and 4WD systems.
