The Mahindra XUV 3XO was first introduced in India in 2024 as a replacement for the XUV300, and managed to established itself as strong contender in the highly competitive sub-4 metre SUV segment. Attributes such as a comprehensive feature kit, spacious cabin, multiple engines and of-course aggressive pricing make it an attractive deal for buyers.
Mahindra XUV 3XO Hybrid & EV
Aiming to further boost its sales and strengthen its game in the compact SUV space, Mahindra & Mahindra is likely to introduce the XUV 3XO with hybrid and electric powertrains in 2026. It could become the first Mahindra hybrid model in India, featuring a 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine paired with a strong hybrid system. The XUV 3XO EV is expected to come with a smaller 35kWh battery pack, paired to an electric motor.
Both the hybrid and electric versions are likely to receive a few changes such as ‘Hybrid’ or ‘EV’ badges and new alloys on the exterior and software updates for instrument cluster.
New-Gen Mahindra XUV 3XO

The Mahindra Vision X concept SUV, which was unveiled on 15th August 2025, previews the brand’s new-gen compact SUV. The new-generation XUV 3XO is likely to derive design inspiration from the Vision X and might be based on Mahindra’s new NU_IQ platform, which supports multiple powertrains.
Visually, the Vision X concept appears very futuristic. However, its production model is expected to undergo practical design changes. The concept features a closed-off grille with Mahindra’s signature logo, a sculpted bonnet, coupe-like windshield, aero-optimized dual-tone alloys, flush-fitting door handles and black cladding along the sides from front to rear.
While there is no official word on its launch timeline, the next-gen XUV 3XO is expected to hit roads in 2028 or 2029. In the subcompact SUV segment, it will take on the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Creta and Kia Sonet, which will receive generational upgrades in due course.
