Mahindra & Mahindra marked Independence Day with the grand unveiling of four new SUV concepts – the Vision X, Vision S, Vision T and Vision SXT. All four concepts are based on Mahindra’s brand-new NU.IQ platform, which supports multiple powertrains and drivetrain systems. The Mahindra Vision T and Vision S are likely to preview the rugged versions of the Thar and Scorpio SUVs, respectively. The Vision X might join the XUV or XEV family, while the Mahindra Vision SXT is a pickup with a compact load area.
The Vision SXT has a rugged and off-road ready character, featuring all-terrain tyres, pronounced wheel arches and high ground clearance. At the front, the pickup sports a split grille, headlamps with unique LED elements, a massive bumper with a metallic skid plate and a raised bonnet. The side profile is enhanced by flared wheel arches, black ORVMs, a black side step and doors and body graphics. Behind the C-pillar, the rear section is open and equipped with two spare all-terrain tyres.
Interior details of the SXT pickup are still under the wraps. However, Mahindra’s official presentation shows a vertically-placed single touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster positioned just behind the steering wheel. The pickup will have a flat-bottom steering wheel, vertical AC vents and large grab rails on the door panels.
Mahindra’s New NU.IQ Platform
Alongside the SUV concepts, Mahindra & Mahindra unveiled its all-new flexible NU.IQ platform that’s claimed to provide class-leading seating, ground clearance and cabin space. It features a 5 Link rear suspension, featuring DAVINCI damper technology, which promises better ride comfort and body control.
SUVs based on the NU.IQ platform will range between 3,990mm – 4,320mm in length. This architecture supports both ICE (internal combustion engine) and electric powertrains as well as FWD (front-wheel drive) and AWD (all-wheel drive) systems. The first model based on this new architecture will arrive in 2027.
