Kia Seltos Hybrid Launch Delayed

Must Read

The second-generation Kia Seltos with a hybrid powertrain will arrive in 2027 alongside the next-gen Hyundai Creta. Earlier reports suggested that the all-new Seltos will debut in late 2025 and hit Indian roads by April 2026. However, the market launch has now been pushed back to 2027. When launched, the 2027 Kia Seltos hybrid will compete with the upcoming hybrid versions of the new Renault Duster, new-gen Hyundai Creta and Honda Elevate.

What It Means for Buyers?

The launch delay clearly indicates at least a year long wait for Kia’s hybrid option. During this period, buyers might consider shifting towards models like Maruti Grand Vitara hybrid, Toyota Hyryder hybrid and the upcoming Hyundai Creta hybrid.

On the positive note, the delay could also mean Kia will come up with a more advanced hybrid system, possibly offering higher fuel efficiency and more premium upgrades.

New Kia Seltos Hybrid – What to Expect?

Engine Options:

Kia will electrify its proven 1.5L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine for the hybrid Seltos. The same powertrain will be used for the Creta hybrid. While the new hybrid engine will be reserved for the higher trims, the lower and midlevel variants are expected to continue with the existing 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engines.

New Design Language:

Spy images reveal that the new Kia Seltos will carry the brand’s new ‘Opposites United’ design language identical to the Syros. Upfront, the SUV is likely to feature a newly-designed grille, angular vertically-positioned DRLs and new fog lamp clusters. Other highlight might include the new alloy wheels and a full LED light strip connecting the taillamps. Media reports suggest that the global-spec Kia Seltos will be 100mm longer than its current generation.

Premium Features:

The 2027 Kia Seltos is likely to borrow some premium features from the Syros including a 30-inch Trinity display, sliding and reclining rear seats, front and rear ventilated seats and more. Spy images suggest that the SUV will offer a dual-tone Silver and Grey upholstery with contrasting orange inserts.

Price Prediction:

As far as pricing is concerned, the Kia Seltos hybrid will be positioned above its ICE counterparts. It’s likely to command a premium of around Rs 2 lakh or Rs 2.50 lakh over the regular variants.
