Is This the Return of Nissan Terrano? Maruti Victoris Rival Spied

Must Read

Nissan has planned four major product launches for India including a C-segment SUV, a subcompact MPV, a D-segment SUV and an A-segment EV. The upcoming Nissan sub-4 metre MPV will be a rebadged version of the Renault Triber slated to arrive in early 2026, followed by a new midsize SUV. The new Nissan compact SUV will be based on the third-gen Renault Duster, and is expected to reach showrooms by mid-2026.

Nissan to bring back the Terrano in India?

In the highly competitive midsize SUV segment, the new Nissan SUV will face challenge from the newly-launched Maruti Victoris, the segment-leader Hyundai Creta, Toyota Hyryder, Kia Seltos and several others. Just so you know, the Nissan Terrano compact SUV was officially discontinued in India in 2020 due to poor sales and a weak dealership network.

Nissan’s new Duster SUV will fill the gap left by the discontinued Terrano in the company’s product lineup. However, it remains unclear whether the carmaker will revive the ‘Nissan Terrano’ nameplate or introduce the SUV under an all-new name.

New Nissan SUV – What to Expect?

Exterior Design

The official teaser and multiple spy images reveal that the upcoming Nissan midsize SUV will have an upright stance with a commanding road presence. It will feature Nissan’s signature grille, inverted L-shaped LED DRLs and a flat bonnet at the front. The bold should creases, pronounced wheel arches with 18-inch alloy wheels, massive body cladding and roof rails will further enhance its sporty appearance.

Interior & Features

The new Nissan SUV is likely to share interior and several premium features with the new Duster. Media reports suggest that it might offer even more features than its donor sibling. The feature list is expected to include a large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, rear AC vents, multiple airbags, ESC, ADAS and more.

Engine Options

The engine setup might also be borrowed from the new Renault Duster. This means, Nissan’s new SUV will come with multiple petrol engine options along with a hybrid version, which will arrive at a later stage. A CNG variant might also be introduced.
