India’s 6 Most-Awaited Electric SUVs Launching Soon

EVs (electric vehicles) are gradually picking up pace in the Indian market, and the proof of it lies in the sales figures. Aiming to further encourage this growth, Niti Aayo has proposed a national electric vehicle policy, as India aims to achieve 30 percent EV sales share by 2030. Mainstream OEMs such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra, Kia and MG are gearing up to foray the EV space or expand their existing EV product lineup in the coming years. Meanwhile, there are top 6 much-awaited electric SUVs, set to launch by early 2026.

Vinfast VF6 & VF7

VinFast-VF7-India

Vinfast is all set to mark its India debut with the launch of the VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs in late August, 2025. The VF6 will be offered in two trims – Earth and Wind – featuring all-black and dual-tone Mocha Brown and Black cabin theme, respectively. This EV will come with a 59.6kWh battery pack, paired with a single motor FWD system. It offers a claimed range of up to 470km.

The Vinfast VF7 electric SUV will come in three trims – Earth, Wind and Sky – and 6 colour options – Zenith Grey, Urban Mint, Infinity Blanc, Crimson Red, Jet Black and Desat Silver. While the base trim will have all-black interior, the Wind and Sky variants will be available with the dual-tone Mocha Brown and Black theme. The powertrain setup of the EV will consist of a 70.8kWh battery pack, available with single and dual motor options. It will promise a claimed range of up to 496km.

Maruti e Vitara

The Maruti e Vitara launch has been delayed, with no official date announced yet. However, it’s expected to arrive before the end of 2025. This SUV can be had with either a 49kWh battery with a 143bhp motor or a 61kWh battery with 173bhp motor. Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that the e Vitara will return a MIDC range of over 500km.

Tata Sierra EV

Tata Sierra is undoubtedly one of the biggest launches of this year. The SUV is expected to hit showrooms in October, 2025. It will be offered with multiple powertrain options including electric. The Sierra EV is expected to share its powertrain setup with the newly-launched Harrier EV, which comes with the 65kWh and 75kWh battery pack options. It could be offered with both RWD and QWD/AWD drivetrain options.  

Mahindra XEV 7e

The Mahindra XEV 7e will be the three-row version of the XEV 9e, sharing its powertrains, components, features and design elements. This means, it will be available with the 59kWh and 79kWh LFP battery packs, paired with a 286bhp and a 231bhp motor, respectively. While most of its features will be similar to the XEV 9e, the Mahindra XEV 7e will have an additional third row of seat.

Kia Syros EV

Kia India is likely to launch the electric version of the Syros in the first half of 2025. Once launched, it will compete with the segment leader – Tata Nexon EV. As of now, there is no information about its powertrain. However, the Kia Syros EV is expected to borrow the 42kWh and 49kWH NMC battery packs from the Hyundai Inster EV, which will also make its way to India in 2026. The electric Syros might look slightly different from its ICE counterpart.
