Hyundai Motor India (HMI) aims to strengthen its market over the next five years by expanding its product lineup across ICE, electric, hybrid and CNG segments. The carmaker’s future roadmap consists of 26 new models slated to arrive by FY2030. Hyundai has confirmed the development of an all-new MPV for family car buyers, an off-road SUV for enthusiasts and a locally designed and developed electric SUV. Hyundai’s first locally manufactured EV SUV will debut in 2027.
New Hyundai Compact Electric SUV
The EV supply chain localization will be carried out in two phases, starting with local EV production at the Chennai plant, followed by deep supply chain localization. The locally-developed Hyundai compact electric SUV will be offered with two battery pack options – Standard Range (for urban commutes) and Long Range (for highway drive). This EV will come with advanced infotainment with controller OTA and Level 2 ADAS (autonomous driver assistance system) along with a “super strong body structure “.

Upcoming Hyundai Hybrid Cars
Hyundai India has also confirmed the introduction of eight new hybrid models, which will help the brand achieve a 52 percent ‘eco-friendly’ product mix. The key reasons behind this move towards hybrid technology are the increasing market demand and the upcoming CAFÉ 3 (Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency), which will come into effect on April 1, 2025.
All-New Petrol-Hybrid Powertrain
Hyundai’s future mass-market hybrid cars are likely to use an all-new 1.2L turbo petrol engine, which might debut in the Bayon compact crossover in 2026. This engine will be developed in India, and will be compatible with hybrid system. It’s said to be more powerful and efficient than the Venue’s 120bhp, 1.0 turbo petrol and Creta’s 160bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol engine. The new 1.2L turbo petrol engine might be offered with an eCVT or a dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
First Hyundai Hybrid Car In India
The new-generation Hyundai Creta, slated to launch in 2027, will be the brand’s first hybrid offering in India. It will be followed by Hyundai Ni1i (codename) three-row hybrid SUV in the same year and the Hyundai Palisade hybrid SUV in 2028.
