Hyundai Confirms 18 New Hybrids; India’s First Local EV by 2030

Hyundai Motor Company has announced its most ambitious product strategy for the next five years at the recently held Hyundai CEO Investor Day in New York. The future roadmap focuses on product expansion, manufacturing improvements and technological advancements. The South Korean automaker aims to achieve 5.55 million global vehicle sales by 2030 with the expectation the 60 percent of total sales will come from the electrified vehicles in markets like North America, Europe and Korea.

One of the major highlights of the announcement is the expansion of hybrid vehicles with the introduction of more than 18 models by 2030. Hyundai’s luxury brand, Genesis, will also expand with new hybrid models starting in 2026. The carmaker has confirmed that the all-new Hyundai Palisade Hybrid will debut with the brand’s next-generation TMED-II technology, promising improved performance and fuel efficiency.

Hyundaialso plans to enter midsize pickup truck segment in North America before 2030. The carmaker has confirmed that the first Hyundai Extended Range EVs (EREVs) will arrive in 2027. These models will feature high-performance batteries and motors, ensuring EV-like driving experiences with over 960km (600 miles) of range through optimized battery-engine integration.

What’s For the Indian Market?

Locally-Developed EV Before 2030

Hyundai Motor Company has confirmed that it will design region-specific products for select markets. India will receive its first Hyundai EV designed to meet local requirements, supported by a localized supply chain. This India-focused Hyundai electric car will hit roads before 2030.

Pune Facility To Be Export Hub

Furthermore, the South Korean automaker has revealed that it will increase its global production capacity by adding 1.2 million units by 2030. This will include 250,000 units from the Pune multi-model export hub in India, 500,000 units from HMGAMA (Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America) and 200,000 units for the dedicated EV facility in Ulsan.

3 Hybrid SUVs By 2028

Hyundai Motor India will introduce its first hybrid vehicle in 2027 – the new-gen Creta. The SUV is likely to feature hybridized version of the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine. The carmaker has also planned a three-row hybrid SUV for 2027, which will sit between the Alcazar and Tucson. Codenamed Hyundai Ni1i, this hybrid SUV is likely to share powertrain with the new Creta hybrid. The Palisade with hybrid powertrain will also make its way to India in 2028.
