Aiming to revive its presence in the Indian market, Honda is planning to launch several new SUVs by 2030 with petrol, electric and hybrid powertrains. The carmaker will also introduce an all-new global platform – PF2 – which will underpin Honda’s future small and medium-sized models. The PF2 architecture will debut with a premium three-row SUV, slated to arrive in 2027. The new-generation Honda City sedan and a new subcompact SUV will also be designed on the same platform.
Honda Hybrid SUV For India
The Japanese automaker is planning to foray into the electric and hybrid SUV segment in 2026-2027. Its first hybrid SUV in India will be the Honda Elevate, expected to debut in the second half of 2026 possibly during festive season. While official powertrain details are yet to be revealed, the Honda Elevate hybrid is expected to share the Atkinson Cycle 1.5L, 4-cylinder petrol engine with the City e:HEV.
In the sedan, this motor comes paired two electric motor – one works as a generator and the other providing propulsion. The setup, with an e-CVT gearbox, returns a claimed mileage of 26.5kmpl and a driving range of around 1,000km.
Honda’s Alwar-based manufacturing facility in Rajasthan will serve as production hub for the new hybrid SUV. In terms of pricing, the Honda Elevate Hybrid is likely to command a premium of around 2-2.50 lakh over its ICE counterpart.
Honda Electric SUV For India
Honda’s first electric SUV will hit roads between April 2026 – March 2027. Contrary to earlier media reports, HCIL President and CEO, Takashi Nakajima, has confirmed that it will not be based on the Elevate. Instead, the new EV will be developed under the brand’s ACE (Asian Compact Electric) project. Nearly 50-70 percent of locally produced units will be reserved for export market.
