Competition & Positioning:
The official name and details of the new Maruti SUV will be revealed at the launch. However, it’s widely referred to as the Maruti Escudo so far. In the company’s product portfolio, the new Arena SUV will bridge the gap between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara. Considering its positioning, this new model is expected to be bigger than the Brezza and affordable than the Grand Vitara.
Level-2 ADAS, Dolby Atmos & More!
According to media reports, the new Maruti SUV will be the brand’s first model to offer Level-2 ADAS (autonomous driver assistance system) and a Dolby Atmos audio system. Unlike the Grand Vitara, it will be available with the AWD (all-wheel drive) option along with a powered tailgate. Other expected features include a 9-inch infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charger, automatic AC, ambient lighting, multiple airbags.
Petrol, Hybrid & CNG Power:
The new Maruti Arena SUV is likely to be based on the Grand Vitara’s Global C platform and will share its powertrains from its Nexa sibling. This means, it will be available with a 103bhp, 1.5L mild hybrid, a 116bhp, 1.5L Atkinson cycle strong hybrid and an 88bhp, 1.5L CNG engine options. If media reports are to be believed, the new Maruti SUV (Maruti Escudo) will also be the company’s first CNG vehicle to feature an underbody CNG tank.
Price Prediction:
While official prices will be announced in just a few days, the new Maruti Arena SUV is expected to be priced nearly Rs 10-10.50 lakh for the entry-level variant, and up to Rs 18-19 lakh for the top-end hybrid variant.
