July 2025 wasn’t an exciting month for the Indian automotive industry. A total of 3,46,669 units were sold last month, compared to 3,43,026 units in July 2024. Maruti Suzuki and Mahindra & Mahindra continued to lead the market, while Hyundai and Tata Motors witnessed significant YoY sales declines of 10.3% and 11.6%, respectively.

SUVs remained the top choice among buyers, with the Hyundai Creta claiming the top spot. It registered sales of 16,898 units, slightly lower than the 17,350 units in the corresponding month previous year. Despite this marginal decline, it managed to outsell the Maruti Brezza and Mahindra Scorpio (Scorpio N + Scorpio Classic), which secured second and third spots, respectively.

– In July 2025, Maruti Suzuki managed to sell 14,065 units of the Brezza and Mahindra retailed 13,747 units of the Scorpio. While the Brezza recorded a minor YoY drop of 4 percent, the Scorpio saw a healthy growth of 12 percent.
– Maruti Suzuki’s Fronx was the fourth top-selling SUVs with sales of 12,872 units against 10,925 units in July 2024, posting an impressive 18 percent YoY growth.
– Next on the list of the Top 10 SUVs are the Tata Nexon and Punch with sales of 12,825 and 10,785 units, respectively. However, both models experienced a major downfall compared to sales of the same month last year.
– With sales of 9,845 units, the Mahindra Thar was the seventh best-selling SUV in July 2025. The off-road SUV recorded a significant YoY growth of 125 percent.
– The eighth, ninth and tenth spots were secured by the Toyota Hyryder midsize SUV, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet compact SUVs, respectively. TKM retailed 8,814 units of the Hyryder up from 7,419 units in July 2024, accounting a 19% YoY growth. Meanwhile, the Venue and Sonet recorded a YoY decline of 9 percent and 19 percent, respectively.
