Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), the Indian arm of the Japanese automaker, is planning to expand its product portfolio and production capacity, while strengthening its sales network. The company will adopt a multi-powertrain strategy and introduce strong hybrid, electric, flex-fuel and electrified flex fuel vehicles in the coming years.
In 2026, Toyota is expected to launch four major products including the Urban Cruiser EV, Hyryder-based 7-seater, a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Victoris and the next-gen Fortuner. It’s important to note that the carmaker hasn’t yet confirmed the product details or their official launch timelines.
Toyota Urban Cruiser EV
Showcased at the Auto Expo 2025, the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will share its platform, powertrain and features with the upcoming Maruti e Vitara. However, it will feature a completely different design and styling. This electric SUV will be offered with two battery packs – 49kWh and 61kWh – paired with the front axle-mounted 143bhp and 173bhp electric motors, respectively. The higher-spec version of the Urban Cruiser EV is expected to deliver a range of over 500km.
Toyota’s Rebadged Maruti SUVs
Next year, the Japanese automaker might also introduce the Hyryder 7-seater and its re-badged counterpart Maruti Suzuki Victoris. Both SUVs are likely to come with three engine options – petrol, hybrid and CNG. The hybrid variant will use a 1.5L, 3-cylinder Atkinson-cycle petrol engine, paired with a strong hybrid setup including a battery pack, an electric motor and an eCVT gearbox.
Next-Gen Toyota Fortuner
The new-generation Toyota Fortuner might also debut sometime next year. The SUV is expected to derive design inspiration from the all-new Hilux. Inside, the new Fortuner might feature a larger touchscreen infotainment system, an updated digital driver’s display, newly-designed dashboard, ventilated front seats, HUD (head-up display) and ADAS suite.
The 2026 Toyota Fortuner is expected to offer the existing 48V Neo Drive mild hybrid and 201bhp, 2.8L turbo diesel engines. Transmission options will also be carried over from the current generation.
More details about the upcoming Toyota SUVs are expected to be revealed in near future. Stay tuned for all latest updates.
