The Indian midsize SUV segment is ready to witness intense competition with the arrival at least 7 new product launches, scheduled by early 2026. OEMs such as Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Renault, Kia and Nissan aim to tap into the segment with a multi-powertrain strategy, while Skoda and Volkswagen will update their existing Kushaq and Taigun SUVs, respectively.
Maruti e Vitara – The Indo-Japanese automaker will mark its entry into the EV segment with the e Vitara in early 2026. Based on the skateboard platform, this new electric SUV will come with two battery options – 49kWh and 61kWh – delivering a claimed range of over 500km on a single charge.
Tata Sierra – The all-new Sierra is expected to arrive with an electric powertrain borrowed from the Harrier EV in early 2026. The lectric iteration will soon be followed by an ICE version, which is likely to feature a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol and a 2.0L diesel engine.
New Renault Duster – The third-generation Renault Duster will hit showrooms in the first half of 2026. Initially, the SUV could be offered with two petrol engines – a 1.0L and a 1.3L. A hybrid variant will join the lineup at a later stage. Compared to its previous generation, the all-new model will look more modern and offer a more premium interior.
New Kia Seltos – The second-generation Kia Seltos is reported to debut in the coming months, followed by its market launch. The SUV will receive a hybrid powertrain in 2027. It’s expected to come with comprehensively revised styling and an updated interior, while retaining the existing engine options.
Nissan’s Duster-Based SUV – Nissan has confirmed a new midsize SUV for the Indian market, slated to launch in early 2026. It will essentially be a re-badged version of the new Renault Duster, but will feature a completely new design language.
Skoda Kushaq & VW Taigun Facelifts – The updated Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun will be introduced with Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) and a 360 degree camera in early 2026. Both SUVs will also receive minor design changes, while retaining the existing engine setups.
