India’s two major OEMs – Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra are set to update their popular models over the next 3-4 months. Tata will roll out the Punch facelift in October, followed by the petrol versions of the Harrier and Safari SUVs in November. Mahindra, on the other hand, will introduce the updated Thar 3-door, Bolero Neo and Bolero SUVs before this Diwali season. Let’s take a closer look at the key details of these upcoming Tata and Mahindra SUVs.
Tata Punch Facelift
The updated Punch is likely to derive design cues from the Punch EV such as a revised front grille, tweaked bumpers, and new headlamps. The micro SUV might also come with the newly-designed alloy wheels, a redesigned tailgate, and Altroz-inspired LED taillamps. Interior will be upgraded with a new two-spoke steering wheel and features such as blind spot monitor, an 8-speaker music system, ventilated front seats, and 6 airbags as standard. The 2025 Tata Punch facelift will come with the existing 1.2L NA petrol and CNG engine options.
Tata Harrier/Safari Petrol
The Tata Harrier and Safari SUVs will soon be available with an all-new 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine. This direct injection motor pushes out a maximum power of 170bhp at 5,000rpm and 280Nm of torque between 2,000rpm – 3,500rpm. It will comply to the BS6 Phase II emission standard and compliant to E20 ethanol petrol mix fuel. The new petrol engine will be offered with both manual and automatic gearbox options.
Mahindra Bolero/Bolero Neo Facelift
The updated Mahindra Bolero and Bolero Neo have been spotted testing multiple times, revealing key design changes and feature upgrades. The 2025 Mahindra Bolero Neo is likely to feature a larger 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a wireless charging pad, ventilated seats, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, keyless go system with push-button start and more. Under the hood, the SUVs will continue to feature the existing 1.5L, 3-cylinder mHawk diesel engine, generating power worth 100bhp and 260Nm of torque.
Mahindra Thar Facelift
The 2025 Mahindra Thar facelift will derive several design elements and features from the Thar Roxx, while retaining the existing engine options. Spy images reveal that the updated SUV will feature a new grille with double-stacked slots, new alloy wheels and new C-shaped LED signatures for headlamps and taillamps.
Inside, the new Thar will offer a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charger in the centre console, grab handles on the A-pillars, door-inlaid power window switches and more. The engine options will remain unchanged including the 2.0L turbo petrol, 1.5L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel units from the current model.
