5 Popular Hyundai Cars To Receive BIG Updates by 2026-27

Must Read

Hyundai has planned an extensive product strategy that includes 26 new models arriving by 2030 across the ICE (internal combustion engine), hybrid and electric vehicle (EV) segment. The upcoming range will comprise 7 to 8 all-new products covering both new and existing segments. In 2026-27, the South Korean automaker will give major updates to its four popular existing models – the i20 hatchback, Exter subcompact SUV, Verna midsize sedan, Creta midsize SUV and Alcazar three-row SUV.

Launch Timelines

The Hyundai Verna and Exter will receive midlife updates, while the i20, Creta and Alcazar will enter into their next generation with comprehensive upgrades. Official launch details of these upcoming Hyundai cars are yet to be revealed. However, reports suggest that the updated Verna will debut by April 2026, while the Exter facelift will arrive by mid-2026. The new-gen i20 is likely to hit showrooms sometime next year, whereas the next-gen Creta and Alcazar SUVs will go on sale in 2027.

Expected Changes

  • Spy images reveal that the 2026 Hyundai Verna might feature a heavily revised front fascia with a redesigned grille with new details and updated bumper. The side and rear profiles are likely to remain largely unchanged. Inside, the sedan is likely to feature a larger touchscreen infotainment along with the rear ventilated seats. The updated Verna will continue to come with the 1.5L MPi petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engines.
  • The 2026 Hyundai Exter facelift is expected to receive a few noticeable styling enhancements and interior upgrades. Mechanically, the model will remain unchanged.
  • The all-new Hyundai i20 was recently spied testing in India. The hatchback is likely to feature Hyundai’s new design language and newly-designed alloy wheels along with a bunch of new features. Engine options are expected to remain unchanged.
  • The third-gen Hyundai Creta will undergo significant exterior and interior changes and will also receive a hybrid powertrain. The carmaker is likely to hybridize its tried-and-tested 1.5L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. The Creta hybrid will compete against the hybrid versions of the Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder and the upcoming new-gen Renault Duster hybrid and Kia Seltos.
  • The next-generation Hyundai Alcazar is expected to launch in 2027 or 2028. The SUV is expected to come with significantly improved styling and upmarket interior, while retaining the existing engine setups.
