The Indian sub-4 metre compact SUV segment is set to witness major changes with the arrival of all-new products, including next-generation models. Some of the already popular subcompact SUVs will receive generational upgrade in the coming years, such as Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO and Kia Sonet.
Launch Timelines
The next-generation Hyundai Venue is scheduled to go on sale on 4th November, 2025. The highly popular Tata Nexon and Kia Sonet are expected to enter their new generation in 2027, while the Mahindra XUV 3XO will undergo a major makeover in 2028. The all-new Maruti Brezza will arrive with a strong hybrid powertrain in 2029.

New Hyundai Venue
The new-gen Hyundai Venue has already been fully revealed ahead of its official launch. The SUV derives several design elements from the Creta and the global-spec Palisade SUVs. Inside, the 2025 Hyundai Venue will feature a dual screen setup, controller OTA and Level-2 ADAS.
New Tata Nexon
The second-gen Tata Nexon will be based on a heavily modified version of its existing X1 platform. The compact SUV might also receive significant design changes inspired by the Curvv along with several new features. The 1.2L turbo petrol engine will be carried over from the current generation. However, it will remain to be seen the diesel engine will continue in the next generation.
New Maruti Brezza
With its generational upgrade, the Maruti Brezza will go hybrid. As per media reports, the 2029 Maruti Brezza will feature the brand’s in-house developed 1.2L, 3-cylinder Z12E petrol engine paired with a strong hybrid system. However, it could be limited to higher trims. The existing petrol engine might also be on offer.
New Mahindra XUV 3XO
The new-gen Mahindra XUV 3XO could be based on the Vision X concept, which was showcased on August 15, 2025. It might also switch to the new NU_IQ platform that’s compatible to multiple powertrains.
New Kia Sonet
The next-generation Kia Sonet is likely to come a completely redesigned exterior, a more upmarket interior and new tech. No mechanical changes are expected. It will continue to come with a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.0L turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo diesel engine.
