September is going to be an exciting month for the Indian auto industry as several product launches lined up ahead of the festive season. The first week itself will witness major actions from the house of Maruti Suzuki, Vinfast and Citroen. The Indo-Japanese automaker is set to launch its second midsize SUV to challenge the segment leader – the Hyundai Creta. This new Maruti SUV will be sold exclusively through Arena dealerships. Meanwhile, Vietnamese automaker Vinfast will begin its Indian innings with the VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs, while Citroen will introduce a new variant of the Basalt coupe SUV.

New Maruti SUV
Codenamed the Y17, the upcoming Maruti Arena SUV will share its platform and powertrains with the Grand Vitara. This means, it will come with the 103bhp, 1.5L petrol, 116bhp hybrid and 88bhp CNG engine options. What make it stand out will be several segment-first features including a Dolby Atmos sound system and a Level-2 ADAS suite. Prices of the new Maruti SUV are likely to start around Rs 10.50 lakh onwards.
Vinfast VF6/VF7
The Vinfast VF6 electric SUV will be offered in two variants – Earth and Wind – packed with a 59.6kWh battery pack and an electric motor. The EV will deliver a claimed WLTP range of 480km. On the other hand, the Vinfast VF7 model lineup will be spread across three trims – Earth, Wind and Sky – featuring a 70.8kWh battery pack and dual electric motors. Its claimed driving range of 496km. Both electric SUVs will be available in 6 exterior colour options and two interior theme options.
Citroen Basalt X
The Citroen Basalt X will be positioned as a new range-topping trim with minimal upgrades. It will feature a redesigned dashboard pattern and bronze interior accents and a new Garnet Red colour scheme. Feature highlights might include an optional 360-degree camera, keyless entry, push-button start/stop, multiple airbags, and more. Under the hood, the new Basalt X will feature the same 110bhp, 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine with a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.
