Maruti Suzuki has set an ambitious plan of achieving a 50% market share by 2030 with a multi-powertrain strategy, new product lineup, increased production capacity and venture into new tech and mobility solutions. The carmaker aims to further strengthen its SUV product portfolio in the coming years, with the latest addition being the all-new Victoris – available with petrol, hybrid and CNG engine options. By 2026, Maruti Suzuki will introduce three new SUVs across different price range with electric, hybrid and petrol powertrains.

Upcoming Maruti SUVs By 2026

Upcoming Maruti SUVs Expected Launch
e Vitara March, 2026
Fronx Hybrid 2026
Premium SUV 2026-27

Maruti e Vitara

The upcoming Maruti e Vitara is under production at the company’s Hansalpur manufacturing facility in Gujarat. The electric SUV will first go on sale in Japan in January 2026, followed by India in March 2026. The EV will be offered with two battery packs – 49kWh and 61kWh, and deliver an MIDC-rated range of over 500km.

The global-spec e Vitara will be offered with an AWD (all-wheel drive) system, while the India-spec version might get it a later stage. It will also be among the most feature-packed Maruti Suzuki models in India, offering features such as a panoramic sunroof, reclining and split rear seats, powered driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, Level-2 ADAS and more.

Maruti Fronx Hybrid (Code – YTB)

Maruti Suzuki is developing its own strong hybrid powertrain, which will debut on the Fronx compact crossover in early 2026. This will also be the brand’s first mass-market hybrid car. According to reports, the Maruti Fronx hybrid will feature a 1.2L, Z-Series petrol engine, paired with the brand’s new series hybrid system.

This strong hybrid powertrain is reported to be highly cost-effective than Toyota’s Atkinson cycle and deliver a fuel efficiency of over 35kmpl. The overall design and features of the Fronx hybrid will be exactly similar to its petrol counterpart, save for the ‘Hybrid’ badge on exterior and a few software updates for instrument cluster.

Maruti Premium SUV (Code – Y17)

The Indo-Japanese automaker is working on a premium SUV measuring over 4.5 metres in length. While the company remains tight lipped about this upcoming model, it’s expected to be a three-row version of the Grand Vitara. When launched, the new Maruti premium SUV will compete with the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700 and Hyundai Alcazar.

If reports are to be believed, the upcoming premium SUV might share its platform, powertrains and features with the Grand Vitara. This means, it could be offered with a 1.5L petrol mild hybrid, a 1.5L strong hybrid and a 1.5L petrol-CNG variant.
