In recent months, Hyundai Motor India has been facing serious competition from Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors. The South Korean automaker has lost its position as India’s second top car manufacturer, despite having strong brand equity and profitability. The major reason for this downfall is the lack of major product launches in both the ICE and EV segments.
In an effort to regain market share, Hyundai has announced an aggressive product strategy including 26 new model launches by 2030. The lineup will include ICE (internal combustion engine), hybrid and electric vehicles, directly targeting Mahindra and Tata’s offerings. The plan outlines 7 to 8 brand-new models along with the next-gen i20, Creta and Alcazar, as well as the Verna and Exter facelifts.
Next-Gen Hyundai i20, Creta and Alcazar

Hyundai had previously planned to discontinue the i20 hatchback and Alcazar 7-seater SUV, but has now changed that decision. The company will launch completely new-gen versions of both models sometime around 2027-2028. The all-new Hyundai i20 and Alcazar are expected to receive comprehensive cosmetic changes and feature upgrades.
The new-generation Hyundai Creta is also planned for 2027-28. Interestingly, this midsize SUV will go hybrid with the generational upgrade along with featuring all-new design language and a more upmarket interior. According to reports, Hyundai might electrify its tried-and-tested 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine for its upcoming hybrid models. The same powertrain will be used for the second-gen Kia Seltos.
The all-new Creta will be the first hybrid model from the South Korean automaker in India, followed by a three-row SUV (codenamed Ni1i) and the flagship Palisade SUV. The existing 115bhp, 1.5L petrol, 160bhp, 1.5L direct-injection turbo petrol and 116bhp, 1.5L diesel engines will also be carried over to the next-gen model. Production of the next-gen Creta will take place at Hyundai’s Tamil Nadu facility. In addition, Hyundai plans to launch of the Hyundai Creta Electric facelift in 2027.
