The festive season is just around the corner, and carmakers are gearing up to make the most of it with their new product lineups slated to arrive over the next 2-3 months. Recently, Maruti Suzuki and Renault India has confirmed the launch of a new midsize SUV and the updated Kiger, scheduled for 3rd September and 24th August, 2025, respectively.
Both models cater to different SUV categories, and hold significant importance in their segments. The upcoming Maruti SUV (Maruti Escudo) will introduce several advanced features, a first for any Maruti car in India, while the updated Kiger is set to remain one of the most affordable subcompact SUVs available in the country. Let’s take a closer look at the key details of these upcoming SUVs.
Renault Kiger Facelift
The Renault Kiger subcompact SUV is set to receive a midlife update in the coming days. The official teaser reveals that the updated model will feature C-shaped taillamps, a sporty rear bumper and a shark fin antenna. Spy images suggest that the 2025 Renault Kiger will come with a heavily revised front fascia, feautring a newly-designed grille with Renault’s new logo and a more pronounced upright nose. Subtle upgrades are also expected inside the cabin.
The 2025 Renault Kiger facelift is likely to retain the existing 1.0L naturally aspirated and 1.0L turbo petrol engines, producing power worth 72PS and 100PS, respectively. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer. A CNG kit will also continue to be offered as a retrofit.
Maruti Escudo
Maruti Suzuki hasn’t officially revealed the name and details of the upcoming model slated to arrive at showrooms on September 3, 2025. However, this new Maruti SUV is widely referred to as the Maruti Escudo. Among its key highlights, the midsize SUV will be the first Maruti Suzuki in India to feature Dolby Atmos audio technology and Level-2 ADAS suite. It will also become the first model in its segment to offer a 4WD (four-wheel drive) system.
The Maruti Esucdo will be based on the Grand Vitara, sharing its powertrains, platform, features and design elements. This means, it will come with three engine options – a 1.5L petrol, a 1.5L strong hybrid and a CNG. Minor cosmetic changes are expected. Previous media reports suggest that the Escudo will be slightly longer than the Grand Vitara and offer more boot space.
